5 Family Holiday Traditions that never get old + SING© Movie sweepstakes

The Holiday season is by far, my favorite time of the year. We love the feeling of hope and love and every moment we spend together as a family. Family traditions are very important and while we have our own all year long, there are some family holiday traditions that never get old.

I want my kids to cherish these memories for years to come and who knows, maybe to continue the traditions with their own families. Traditions don’t have to be super elaborate or fancy, but rather simple and enjoyable, and they can change trough the years.

5 Family Holiday Traditions
that never get old

Putting Christmas lights outside home. When I was a kid, this was one of my favorite part. Colorful lights made me feel happy and joyful and they looked so pretty on the roof. Now my kids enjoy the lights as much as I did. They make the house look pretty with all the different colors. And this year to make it a little more special, we put some to illuminate the path to our front door. You should see them at night!

Hang a wreath on the front door. We change the wreath according to the season and I’m not lying when I tell you that the Christmas wreath is my favorite. This year I used a bright red velvet ribbon and some poinsettia flowers. It look so pretty and the flowers remind me so much of my home country, México. The “nochebuenas” or Christmas eve flowers are a staple during the season.

Decorating the house for Christmas. I love everything about the Holiday season, but decorating the house is my #1. This year we wanted to add a traditional look to the decoration, using red and green colors. I think the color also gives me a little bit of nostalgia. Our kids enjoy helping with the tree, the lights and everything they can put their hands on. We even hang some stockings (even though we don’t use them for presents, juts decorations) to our chimney.

Having at least one meal together as a family. I know it sounds silly, but families now have to deal with busy schedules, work and activities and it is hard to keep all together at the table at the same time. For us, having at least dinner together every school night is necessary! it’s a time to catch up, talk and enjoy our company. And during the weekends, we love to have breakfast together! Depending of what time we wake up is the “menu”. We can enjoy pancakes, eggs, waffles, fruit, and cereal! not all at the same time of course 🙂 Kids set up the table and adults help with the food.

When we eat cereal Honey bunches of oats is our #1! I love the delicious sweetness and crunch of the cereal. You can add some fruit, like blueberriesor strawberry but bananas are yummy too. And if you don’t want milk, serve your cereal with some yogurt. I don’t know where you buy yours but I like to get my cereal at Kroger.

Watching movies. This is the time when the days are shorter and we can’t be outdoors the way we used to do it during summer and early fall. So our activities change according to the weather and the short days. Watching movies is something we really enjoy. We either have a family night movie at home in our pajamas or an early movie at the movie theater. We can go from Holiday and Christmas movies to our favorites movies of the year. And it’s so much fun when there are new movies to watch! one of the movies we can’t wait to see is SING© . Since we watched the trailer we fall in love! The movie will be in theaters starting December 21st!

Participate in the SING© Movie sweepstakes ** to win lots of prizes including movie tickets, speakers and more! the big prize is $100,00!! You can also play Fun-Trivia to see which SING© character you most resemble.
