I am not going to lie, I don’t like cleaning. But before you say anything let me tell you that as much as I hate cleaning, I hate a dirty house even more. Cleaning is a never ending task right? So, when I don’t feel like cleaning for 2 or 3 hours straight I do what you should do too if you want a happy and clean home: Have 10 minute clean up Intervals a couple of times a day. How can you do that? Easy! just grab a few tools (like the vacuum and towel) and 2 of my favorite cleaning products: Windex® and Pledge®.
Every day is the same, kitchen and living room seem to be the hardest places to keep clean. Kitchen because is the place we spend most of the time and living room because it’s where my girls like to play, read, watch TV and sometimes even eat a snack. I ask them to keep everything neat and clean, but you know kids.
How much can be done in a 10 minute clean up Interval? It depends. If you get the help of your husband and kids, you can do a lot. For example, this time I get the help of my 5 year old daughter to pick up toys and put away some blankets from the living room and she also helped putting trash away. But when using the products to clean surfaces and tables, I prefer to do it myself.
The first thing as I mentioned before is to clear tables, floor and furniture of anything that don’t belong there. Toys go in bins, boxes or a cart that can be pull by your kid. Trash in the trash can, books on the shelves. Everything need its place.
Then, clean surfaces. You can do it before or after passing the vacuum, whatever you prefer. For this part I used the Pledge® multisurface Rainshower®, all you need is shake the bottle, spray the surface and wipe using a clean towel. It works great it a lot of surfaces, like wood, laminate, glass and even some electronics. But if you want to clean the tv with the same product, instead of spray over it, do it over the towel, then wipe.
Try the Pledge® Orange Clean polishing spray if you have wood furniture or leather couches. Mine are a canvas-type surface so I don’t need any product, just dust and pass the vacuum if they have small traces of food.
If you clean surfaces first, then the next step is to pass the vacuum. My favorite part because it means I’m almost done. By this time the 10 minutes are almost over and the living room clean and inviting. If you still have a minute like I did, use it to clean your kitchen counter. Doing the dishes is what I do in the morning, but clearing and cleaning the counter top is what’s left. Spray some of your Windex® Multi–Surface Vinegar over the counter and use a towel (different from the one you used on the living room) to wipe clean.
The result? Happy mom with a clean living room and kitchen ready to conquer the world. Okay, maybe that was a bit too much. But the happy part is true.

No te voy a mentir, no me gusta limpiar. Pero antes de que digas nada dejame decirte que así como odio limpiar, odio más una casa sucia. ¿Limpiar es un cuento de nunca acabar verdad? Así es que cuando no tengo ganas de pasarme limpiando por 2 o 3 horas seguidas, hago lo que deberías hacer tú también si quieres tener una casa limpia y feliz. Tener intérvalos de limpieza de tan sólo 10 minutos un par de veces al día. ¿Cómo puedes hacerlo? ¡Fácil! simplemente toma algunas herramientas (como la aspiradora y una toalla limpia) y 2 de mis productos de limpieza favoritos: Windex® and Pledge®.
Todos los días es lo mismo, la cocina y la sala parecen ser las dos habitaciones que es más difícil mantener limpias. La cocina porque es el espacio en donde pasamos la mayor parte del tiempo y la sala porque es donde a mis hijas les gusta jugar, leer, ver televisión y hasta comerse un refrigerio. Les pido que mantengan todo limpio y ordenado, pero ya sabes cómo son los niños.
¿Cuánto se puede hacer en un intérvalo de limpieza de tan sólo 10 minutos? Depende. si tienes la ayuda de tu esposo e hijos, puedes hacer mucho. Por ejemplo, esta vez mi hija de años me ayudó a recoger juguetes, guardar unas mantas que tenía en la sala y también a recoger la basura. Pero para limpiar mesas y superficies usando los productos de limpieza prefiero hacerlo yo misma.
Lo primero que debes hacer como mencioné anteriormente, es despejar las mesas, piso y cualquier mueble de todo aquello que no vaya ahí. Los juguetes van en cubos, cajas o un carro que pueda ser jalado por tus niños. La basura en el bote de la basura, los libros en el librero. Todo necesita su espacio.
Entonces, a limpiar superficies. Puedes hacerlo antes o después de aspirar, como prefieras. Para esta parte usé Pledge® multisurface Rainshower®, todo lo que necesitas es agitar el embace, rociar a superficie y al final limpiar con una toalla limpia. Funciona de maravilla en muchas superficies, como madera, madera laminada, virdrio y algunos electrónicos. Pero si quieres limpiar tu televisión con este producto, en lugar de rociar directamente sobre ella, hazlo sobre la toalla, y después limpia con esta.
Usa Pledge® Orange Clean polishing spray si tienes muebles de madera o sillones de piel. La superficie de mis sillones es de tela tipo lona así que no necesito ningún producto, sólo sacudir y después aspirar si hay algunas migajas de comida.
Si limpias las superficies primero, entonces el siguiente paso es aspirar. Y es mi parte favorita porque significa que ya casi terminamos. A estas alturas los 10 minutos casi se terminan al igual que la limpieza y tu sala debe estar limpia y acogedora. Si tienes un minuto libre todavía como yo, usalo para limpiar el mostrador de la cocina. Como lo que hago en la mañana es lavar los trastes, lo único que queda es despejar y limpiar el mostrador. Rocía un poco de Windex® Multi–Surface Vinegar y usa una toalla (diferente a la que usaste en la sala) para limpiar.
¿El resultado? Mamá feliz con la sala y cocina limpias lista para conquistar el mundo. Está bien, tal vez es demasiado. Pero la parte de ser feliz es cierta.
